Automatically setup your email via CPANEL

In this post we’ll show you, step by step, how you can use CPANEL to automatically configure your email application, hopefully making it both easier and less likely that an error will be made.

Firstly we’ll want you to login to webmail for your domain name using your email address and password. These details would of all been sent to you in your hosting account document.

When you first login you will be given the choice of three email client interfaces to use.

We recommend Roundcube though it’s not essential in this process for easy setup of your email account.  If you wish to use webmail in the future we recommend you select Roundcube as the default email client.

On the next screen you’ll be presented with the webmail interface showing a view of your inbox.

At the top right of your screen you’ll see a blue button with the email address you’re logged in with (or just a white head icon on a mobile device). If you select the blue box you will then be able to choose further functions.  We want to select Configure Mail Client.

At this step you’ll be presented with auto configuration scripts for many of the most popular email clients.  Notice some blue text links read Auto Discovery or Auto Config and if you click these they’ll give you further information on what happens with those email clients and the easy steps to take.

If you’re not using an email client with an Auto link you’ll want to choose IMAP over SSL/TLS.  We recommend this setting for the added security to your emails.

Follow the simple instructions and your email should be successfully setup to send and receive emails on your account.  We would recommend you send and receive a few test emails to make sure everything is working correctly.

Setting up email on iOS (eg iPhone, iPad)?
It’s advised that you use the Safari web browser so that your device recognises what to do with the setup file that is sent to your device.  Once you click Proceed your device will launch the Install Profile prompt.  The prompt will show it’s NOT signed but proceed to install to add your email account to your device.

Need to update manually?
If you need to setup your account manually this page will also show all the settings you need for secure (recommended!) and non-secure setup of your email address.
