Why I’m limiting new projects to maintain quality

Why I'm limiting new projects

It feels like an understatement to say that the last year has been busy. I’m truly thankful by the demand for the websites I build. The level of interest has been unprecedented in my 25 years in this industry, and I want to start by saying a huge thank you to every client who has put their trust in me.

I believe this demand stems from a core promise: to deliver high quality, professional websites at an affordable price. Every site I build isn’t just designed to look great, it’s built to perform. This includes crucial performance optimisations to ensure it loads lightning-quick, foundational Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) configuration to get you started on the right foot and robust security hardening.

To put this into perspective, last year I personally designed, built and launched 37 new websites.

While I am immensely proud of this work, this milestone highlights the reality of being a sole trader dedicated to quality. This high volume of work, combined with my commitment to my existing clients, means I have to be realistic about my capacity.

As a result, I’ve had to make the difficult but necessary decision to limit the number of new projects I take on. This often means that new websites will have a delayed start date of around one to two months. At peak times, I may even need to temporarily pause accepting new projects altogether to ensure that every single job receives the focus and attention it deserves.

The reason for this is simple: my commitment to outstanding service doesn’t end the day your website goes live. A huge part of my responsibility is providing ongoing, reliable support to all my current clients. Whether it’s a technical query about hosting, a quick update that needs actioning, or advice on a new feature, I am committed to being there for my clients.

Many new clients find me after being let down by a previous designer who has become unresponsive, failing to return calls or emails. I don’t want to become that person, so by carefully managing my workload, I can honour my promise to be reliable and ensure my high standards for support are never compromised. It’s this dedication that helps me build long-term relationships with my clients.

So, if you are considering a new website, please don’t be discouraged. I would encourage you to get in touch as early as possible to discuss your project. I can book your project into the diary, ensuring it gets the dedicated time it needs when its slot comes around.

Thank you for your understanding. Your support is what allows me to continue doing what I love – building websites that I am proud of, for clients who value quality and reliability.
